Hey followers!, I am thinking about packing away my Cairns Daily Photo as a photo a day extremely time-consuming with my work and photo business, and when I am not producing any photo’s I feel that the name does not suit anymore! Unless I make a name change to suit ? …… any thoughts

You may think I’m talking about the girl with the red locks in my picture, although she does like her exercise, the Red Arrow is a short track (just over a km) used by many people to get their daily exercise dose. Right next door to the Botanical gardens behind the information center is a circular track which presents in a collection of stairs through the rainforest that overlooks the airport when you reach the top. The downward hill to reach the bottom can be refreshing looking out at the view (depending which way you enter the track). If you are more experienced you might like the blue arrow (halfway up that is much longer and you will need the weekend to do that one). All I can say is “feel the burn”

I found myself after 10:30 out side in my PJ’s in the rain! I was rescuing about 20 or more newly hatched baby frogs (the size of my thumb nail), they had come onto the concrete footpath that surrounds my house which in turn had drawn the moisture straight off their skin. At first the kids and I thought they were all dead until we tipped water on them and to our surprise they became unstuck, I spent the next 1/2 an hour hosing the concrete and walls. It’s great to see so many baby frogs for our environment! This picture was taken a few days when their skin is a bit tougher and they have all found hiding spots in the garden.

On the day of her new album release here -(http://www.katemillerheidke.com/ ) Kate Miller-Heidke performed last night at the Tanks Art Center. With her goddess looking outfit Kate took to the stage shimmering in our Cairns heat with her partner Keir Nuttall on guitar (which was a great compliment). Such a range of vocals came from this petite, funny, talented woman. I was surprised in the endless ranges and forms that came from the sweet lips of Kate within each song, which brings me still not being able to describe her in a short sentence. The small crowed was treated with amazing oprah tones that bounced of each wall of the giant tank we sat in, to comedic lyrics, true stories and her own gorgeous little sounds (which were like an instrument of her own) – I watched my daughters little face turn around with glee when she did this ! Kate’s performance was supported by Madeline Paige who had a beautiful voice that echoed deep though the tanks and made the crowed laugh during her songs), I was quite taken by her version of tear drops . Thanks Kate and the Tanks …. such a great night.
(Ok so my Canon 5D wont fit into my handbag – the trusty Iphone had to come out, no flash ) … managed to get a couple of strange, slightly blurry images …

Take a drive to Herberton to check out our history – there are so many interesting items and stories to see at the Historic Village. We spent a few hours here imagining what it would be like to live as Australians did before us. More information here - http://www.herbertonhistoricvillage.com.au/
